Wood grinding mill (also known as wood flour machine) is specialized grinding equipment for high-efficiency processing of high-fiber and high-toughness raw materials such as wood and bamboo. With powerful shearing force, it effectively solves common industrial problems in processing fibrous materials including fiber tangling, screen blockage, difficult cutting and dust explosion hazards. The finished wood powder features controllable fiber morphology and concentrated particle size distribution.

Process Flow of Wood Grinding Mill

Crushing & Drying

Raw materials are crushed by wood crusher into small wood chips meeting feeding requirement (≤120mm). The materials are then dried by dryer to reduce moisture content to ≤15%, and sent into wood grinding mill via conveying equipment. 

Shearing & Classification

After entering the grinding zone, materials are driven by high-speed rotating grinding disc and move toward the edge. Under centrifugal force, materials are thrown to the disc edge and subjected to continuous shearing and grinding between high-speed grinding teeth and fixed tooth plates, so the wood fibers are efficiently dissociated and refined.

Ground wood powder flows upward with airflow into classification system. The finished fineness can be precisely controlled by adjusting classifier speed and gap of grinding disc. Powder meeting fineness requirement enters collection system with airflow, while unqualified coarse powder returns to grinding chamber for re-pulverization to form a closed-circuit circulation.

Powder Collection & Dust Removal

The collection and dust removal system consists of cyclone collector and pulse explosion-proof bag dust collector, fitted with safety devices such as explosion venting valve, anti-static filter bags and explosion-proof motor.

Frequently Asked Questions of Wood Grinding Mill

Why can’t other grinding mills be used for wood grinding?

Other mills (such as Raymond mill, ball mill, vertical mill, etc.) mainly grind materials by extrusion and rolling. They cannot cut wood fibers effectively. Instead, materials get flattened or compacted and cause blockage, so they cannot pulverize wood efficiently.

Can wood grinding mill process high-moisture timber?

Direct processing of timber with moisture content ≥25% is not recommended. Wet materials feature higher toughness and tend to stick and clog equipment. Normally, reduce material moisture to below 15% by natural air drying or dryer before feeding into wood grinding mill.

What raw materials can wood grinding mill process?

Wood grinding mill is suitable not only for wood (logs, wood scraps, sawdust, wood chips), but also for bamboo, crop straw (corn stalk, wheat stalk, cotton stalk), hemp, coconut shell, palm fiber and other high-fiber materials. Note that for different raw materials, cutter discs with different tooth profiles or screen apertures need to be replaced or adjusted accordingly.
