Model SLG three-cylinder continuous powder surface modifier (commonly known as three-roll surface modifier) consists of three groups of high-speed rotors arranged in triangular layout. It uses self-friction heat generated by vortex flow for temperature rise and integrates powder dispersion and additive coating modification in one process. Specially designed for mass continuous processing of non-metallic mineral powders such as calcium carbonate, talc and kaolin, it carries out activation and coating treatment on powders ground and classified by grinding mills. It can effectively reduce oil absorption value of powder and improve powder dispersibility and compatibility, which is the preferred equipment for continuous powder modification projects.

Flexible Adjustment: Variable frequency drive device is optional to flexibly adjust feeding speed and precisely match production line capacity. Wear-resistant protective coating can be customized for grinding cavity as required to extend rotor service life and reduce replacement frequency of wearing parts.
Working Principle of Three-roll Surface Modifier
The three-roll surface modifier is installed in series at the rear of grinding and classification equipment. During operation, base powder after grinding and classification and molten stearic acid additives are quantitatively fed into the modifier synchronously. Three groups of rotors arranged in triangle rotate at high speed in the same direction to form multi-stage staggered vortex field inside the cavity. Powder particles continuously collide and shear here to break up agglomerates.
The dispersed powder continuously rubs against rotors and cavity wall to generate friction heat of 80~120℃ automatically. Adsorption of additives and surface coating activation are completed synchronously during vortex conveying. After powder modification, finished powder can be discharged continuously and directly without intermittent waiting.

What is the difference between three-roll surface modifier and high-speed powder modifier?
Three-roll Surface Modifier: Suitable for large-scale continuous production lines. It heats up by material friction heat with low overall energy consumption, yet it cannot precisely control temperature. It is mainly used for activation modification of calcium carbonate, talc and other conventional industrial powders.
High-speed Powder Modifier: Suitable for small and medium-sized refined production lines. Equipped with independent heating system and electric auxiliary heating function, temperature, stirring time and rotating speed can be precisely controlled to maintain constant temperature reaction for a long time, delivering more uniform and stable coating effect. It applies to high-end powder modification fields.
Can three-roll surface modifier process high-viscosity and high-moisture powders?
It is not suitable. Excess moisture will cause powder to adhere to rotors and block the cavity, resulting in uneven coating and reduced capacity. For powders with high moisture or strong viscosity, it is recommended to select high-speed powder modifier.
What modifiers are compatible with three-roll surface modifier?
The equipment reaches working temperature of 80~120℃ through self-friction, suitable for melt coating of hot-melt modifiers such as stearic acid. Constant temperature cannot be precisely controlled within this temperature range. For coupling agents such as silane and titanate which require strict temperature control, the modification effect is unsatisfactory and this equipment is not recommended for such additives.
