High Specific Surface Area Calcium Hydroxide Introduction
High specific surface area calcium hydroxide refers to calcium hydroxide powder with large specific surface area (over 40m²/g with additives). Specific surface area means the total surface area per unit mass of substance, which is a key indicator determining reactivity, adsorptivity and dispersibility. Compared with ordinary calcium hydroxide, it features superior chemical activity and is widely used in high-end environmental protection fields such as metal pollution treatment and advanced wastewater purification.

Powder Properties of High Specific Surface Area Calcium Hydroxide
Chemical Properties: Calcium hydroxide [Ca(OH)₂] content ≥94%, which fundamentally guarantees high reaction activity.
Physical Properties: Specific surface area can reach above 40m²/g. Its reaction rate is 3~8 times higher than ordinary calcium hydroxide, featuring well-developed pores and good dispersion performance.
Appearance & Color: White in appearance. Whiteness is not strictly required; priority is given to activity and reaction efficiency.
Moisture Content: Free moisture ≤0.5%. Low moisture content minimizes agglomeration on the surface of calcium hydroxide particles.
Production Process of High Specific Surface Area Calcium Hydroxide
High specific surface area calcium hydroxide is normally produced by lime slaker with two-stage digestion design. Quicklime raw material undergoes preliminary digestion in double-shaft mixer, then secondary digestion in chain stirring digester. By precisely controlling water-lime ratio, temperature and reaction time, combined with water-soluble auxiliary agent feeding and constant-temperature closed aging, loose, porous and high-activity calcium hydroxide is generated.
After digestion and aging, materials are sent to pre-classifier for separation. Qualified fine powder with high specific surface area is directly collected and stored as finished product. A small amount of agglomerated hard lumps are delivered to milling equipment only for deagglomeration, preventing over-grinding of qualified porous powder and collapse of micropores under pressure. The final product achieves 325 mesh sieve passing rate ≥95%, producing high-activity calcium hydroxide with high specific surface area.

Application Fields of High Specific Surface Area Calcium Hydroxide
High-End Environmental Protection: High specific surface area calcium hydroxide serves as ideal neutralizer and adsorbent for high-efficiency flue gas desulfurization & denitrification and deep purification of industrial acid waste gas such as HCl and HF.
Material Synthesis: Widely used as high-performance catalyst carrier in synthesis of high-end environmental catalysts (e.g. VOCs purification) and special polymer materials.
High-Purity Chemicals: It is an ideal calcium source for preparing high-purity inorganic calcium salts such as reagent-grade calcium carbonate and calcium phosphate, effectively reducing impurity introduction and improving product purity.
Pharmaceutical Synthesis: Its rapid ion exchange capacity and high specific surface area accelerate reaction progress and improve reaction selectivity, making it a premium alkaline calcium source for synthesis of high-value pharmaceutical intermediates.

Frequently Asked Questions of High Specific Surface Area Calcium Hydroxide
What should be noted for storage and use of high specific surface area calcium hydroxide?
High specific surface area calcium hydroxide shall be packed with double-layer moisture-proof packaging (inner film + woven bag) and stored in dry and ventilated place. The inventory cycle should not exceed 3~6 months. A sealed, bridging-proof powder conveying system is recommended during feeding to avoid secondary moisture absorption.
What is the difference between high specific surface area calcium hydroxide and ordinary calcium hydroxide?
High specific surface area calcium hydroxide is calcium hydroxide powder with extremely high specific surface area (up to over 40m²/g) and porous fluffy structure. Compared with ordinary calcium hydroxide (1~15 m²/g), it has superior reaction rate, adsorption capacity and dispersion performance.
How about the cost performance of high specific surface area calcium hydroxide?
Although its procurement cost is higher than ordinary calcium hydroxide, its added value and cost performance are far better. For example, in environmental protection, its ultra-high activity reduces equipment investment and operating energy consumption; in material synthesis, it improves product purity and performance value.
