Adopting two-stage slaking design, it achieves a slaking rate of over 98% at maximum. The secondary slaking system uses a chain stirring slaker with customizable capacity and volume. It serves as the core equipment for producing high-quality calcium hydroxide.
Suitable Materials:Quicklime (Calcium Oxide)
Introduction to Lime Slaker
The lime slaker (also known as lime hydrator or quicklime slaker) is dedicated equipment that converts quicklime (calcium oxide) and water into hydrated lime (calcium hydroxide). Adopting modular slaking modules, the system is connected in series with water mist dust collector and pulse dust collector. The water mist dedusting technology recovers heat to boost slaking reaction while ensuring good dust removal performance, with waste gas emission ≤10mg/m³.

The two-stage slaking system adopts patented chain stirring slaker with excellent heat preservation performance. Its maximum slaking rate can exceed 98%, and slaking capacity outperforms conventional lime slakers with 3~7 stage slaking designs available on the market. Customizable capacity and equipment volume reduce investment costs for production line steel frames, foundations, workshops and other facilities (over 30% cost reduction compared with traditional lime slakers of the same capacity).

Dust Removal System: Connected in series with water mist dust collector and pulse dust collector. Featuring good sealing performance, it realizes heat recovery and waste gas purification.

Traditional lime slaker (Left) and GK lime slaker (Right)
Performance Advantages
Compact Structure: Two-stage slaking design replaces traditional multi-stage (3~7 stage) stepped structure. Lower height and compact layout greatly cut investment on steel frames, workshops, foundations, etc.
Precise & Controllable: Variable-frequency feeder and flowmeter achieve accurate water-lime ratio control. Combined with insulation layer and temperature sensor, it maintains optimal reaction temperature for full slaking of quicklime and improves activity & purity of calcium hydroxide.
Simple & Efficient: The whole line only has three core drives, fewer drive points, low failure rate, convenient installation and simple maintenance. Slaking rate ≥98%, slaking performance superior to lime slakers with 3~7 stages on the market.
Water Mist Dust Removal: Patented water mist dedusting technology recovers heat to promote slaking reaction and purify excess gas generated during slaking.

Lime Slaker Process Flow
Quantitative Feeding
Calcined quicklime is fed continuously, uniformly and precisely into the lime slaker via a quantitative feeder. Meanwhile, metering water pump adds tap water at accurate ratio, and the water-lime ratio is precisely controlled from 0.6:1 to 0.8:1.
Agitation & Slaking
Quicklime(CaO) + Water (H₂O) → Calcium Hydroxide (Ca(OH)₂) + Heat
The twin-shaft agitator acts as primary slaking tank for initial slaking of quicklime and water. Under high-speed rotating twin-shaft blades, quicklime material is continuously stirred, sheared and dispersed to ensure full contact between quicklime and water. The slaking temperature is generally controlled between 80°C~95°C to maximize slaking efficiency. The pulse dust collector and water mist dust collector connected in series recover heat generated from slaking reaction to further improve slaking efficiency.
Maturing Reaction
Then incompletely reacted quicklime enters the single-shaft agitator for maturing (homogenization + aging). Slowly rotating single-shaft blades stir quicklime material with uneven temperature and moisture to achieve uniform distribution of moisture and heat for material homogenization.
Subsequently, static aging provides sufficient time for incompletely reacted quicklime to fully react with water, producing high-activity calcium hydroxide.
Two-stage Slaking System: Adopts twin-shaft agitator as primary slaking tank and chain stirring slaker as secondary deep slaking equipment. With long trough structure, it slowly turns and conveys materials to extend reaction time and promote homogenization and aging of quicklime. The system is equipped with insulation layer and temperature control device to maintain reaction temperature for more thorough slaking reaction, upgrading calcium hydroxide quality and realizing deep material slaking.

Frequently Asked Questions for Lime Slaker
Why does the two-stage slaking system of lime slaker no longer need a single-shaft agitator?
The single-shaft agitator is used for slow stirring to promote homogenization and aging of quicklime material, which overlaps with the function of chain stirring slaker adopted in the two-stage slaking system. The chain stirring slaker is far superior to single-shaft agitator in maintenance cost, energy consumption and heat preservation effect, and can realize further deep slaking of quicklime. Therefore, single-shaft agitator is replaced by the better chain stirring slaker in both function and economy.
Are there particle size requirements for quicklime fed into lime slaker?
Yes. Quicklime particle size affects slaking efficiency. The feed particle size is generally ≤30mm. Large lumps over 50mm are strictly forbidden to enter the machine to avoid incomplete slaking, equipment blockage and uneven heat release during reaction.
How to improve the slaking efficiency of lime slaker?
Precisely control water-lime ratio, reaction temperature, stirring intensity and reaction time. It is recommended to mix water and quicklime at mass ratio from 0.6:1 to 0.8:1, and keep reaction temperature between 80°C~95°C.
Which manufacturer supplies good lime slakers?
Guilin Mining Machinery is recommended for lime slaker. Most lime slakers available in China market still adopt traditional 3~7 stage slaking design, while Guilin Mining Machinery’s lime slaker features two-stage slaking design with twin-shaft agitator plus chain stirring slaker. It delivers good heat preservation, low energy consumption, simple maintenance and much higher slaking capacity than conventional lime slakers. Customizable equipment capacity and volume with compact layout greatly reduce investment costs for production line steel frames, foundations and workshops.
Why is the agitator of lime slaker horizontal instead of vertical?
Vertical Agitator: Prone to sedimentation when handling viscous materials, resulting in uneven stirring and affecting the quality of finished calcium hydroxide.
Horizontal Agitator: Effectively solves the problems of sedimentation and adhesion of calcium hydroxide slurry. It fully turns over materials for uniform mixing, directly improving subsequent static aging efficiency and calcium hydroxide quality.
