Wood Crusher Introduction
Wood crusher (also known as wood shavings machine) is a coarse crushing pretreatment equipment specially used for high-fiber and tough materials such as raw logs, branches, board scraps and waste wood products. Through powerful shearing and impact, it crushes irregular large wood blocks into uniform small wood chips, providing evenly sized feed material for wood pulverizer.

Features & Advantages of Wood Crusher
High-efficiency Crushing: Adopts high-torque and low-speed design with large crushing ratio. It can efficiently process wood materials with diameter ≤300mm and finish crushing in one pass.
Precise & Controllable: Equipped with adjustable screen mesh and grilles, the discharge particle size can be precisely controlled within 20~120mm with uniform fineness.
Anti-winding Design: Unique cutter layout and rotor structure effectively prevent fiber from winding the main shaft to ensure continuous and stable operation.
Powerful Shearing Capacity: The core roller and cutters are forged from special alloy steel, featuring strong shearing force, wear resistance and impact resistance. It can easily cut high-fiber tough materials such as logs and branches.

Working Principle of Wood Crusher
Raw materials are fed into the wood crusher by conveying equipment. The internal high-speed rotating heavy alloy cutter roller breaks materials through shearing, impact and tearing. Then crushed materials are screened by the bottom screen: small fragments meeting specifications are discharged out of the machine, while oversize coarse materials are retained in the chamber and continue to be sheared and crushed until reaching qualified size for discharge. Discharge particle size can be flexibly adjusted by replacing screen meshes with different apertures.

Frequently Asked Questions of Wood Crusher
Should materials be dried before crushing by wood crusher?
Drying before crushing is not recommended. It is hard to remove moisture inside large raw logs. After crushing into small wood chips, heat transfers faster, delivering higher drying efficiency and lower energy consumption. Although pre-drying can reduce cutter wear, it brings inconvenient transportation, longer drying time and higher cost, which hurts production efficiency. The common process is crushing first and then drying.
Why not use other crushers for wood processing?
Other crushers such as jaw crusher, impact crusher and hammer crusher mainly crush materials by compression or impact. Wood is elastic material with high fiber and high toughness and strong resistance to impact and compression. These crushers cannot crush wood efficiently. Forced operation will cause material winding, blockage and equipment damage.
Why is it strictly forbidden to crush rotten wood?
The fiber structure of rotten wood has collapsed. It cannot be effectively sheared during crushing; instead, it will stick and clog the machine and damage equipment. Meanwhile, rotten wood accelerates corrosion and wear of cutters and core parts. Finished products tend to be contaminated by dust with poor quality and may bring hazards to operators.
